Purple is back! In the coming year, we will see purple home decor welcomed back to the ranks of the trendy. As you receive your fall catalogs showing off the new product collections, watch for ways to bring plum into your home decor.
This time around purple is taking on a sophisticated look. Instead of royal purple, we will find dusty plum joining the new home decor color palettes. Plum is already showing up in home decor products, and as the year progresses and fall product lines are released, I expect to see it becoming more and more prevalent. While plum brings quiet color to a room when paired with gray, it can also be blended with tangerine or sunny gold for a modern pop of color. Here are just a few of the plum products already available:

Available from Bellacor, this mini-pendant glows with plum and copper hues:
A new pillow from Room and Board blends plum, gray and copper:
Room and Board has many other plum and lavender pillow designs, which you can see here.
Pottery Barn has a sophisticated new bedding collection, which brings plum together with muted tones of gray and wheat in a classic paisley pattern:
I found this modern print on Art.com, and it would work beautifully with much of the plum home decor I found:
And, after several years of an absence of purple in home decor fabrics, we are now seeing a resurgence in its availability and popularity. I especially like this whimsical option from Greenhouse Design:
In the coming months, you won’t be able to avoid the influence of purple in home design and decor. When you notice plum in your local home decor shops, remember that you heard it here first! 🙂Pin It
