Before & After: Desk Chair

Before & After: Desk Chair

I LOVE finding old, much-loved, slightly-in-need-of-repair pieces of furniture and giving them a new life.  Even more, I love using color to create something new and exciting out of a bland piece.

Chair before

I found this chair at a garage sale and paid just a few dollars for it.  It had already been reupholstered once, but it was drab and dirty – definitely not the piece I was looking for in my front-porch-turned-office.  So, I did what any inspired designer would do:  I got out my paint and my staple gun and got to work!

Painted chair after

I explained the process of how to paint a stained piece of furniture in a prior article, so I won’t get into the nitty-gritty details here.  But, you may like to know that I used a Sherwin Williams paint on the chair, in color #6716 Dancing Green.  I reupholstered the seat in a Robert Allen Fabric called Orchard St in Robin’s Egg.  I plan to make a curtain in the same fabric to add privacy to my front door.  I love the way this chair turned out; the cheerful colors brighten the space!
