Design Trend: Stripes

Stripes are everywhere this year!  From dinnerware to bedding, shower curtains to pillows, stripes will be a go-to pattern for the trendy home in 2013.  

I have always been a lover of stripes; I find their multi-colored nature to be the perfect way to tie a room together, whether they are used on windows or in accent furniture.  And, really, stripes have never gone out of style.  The newest trend in stripes, however, is less multi-colored and more 2-colored.  Keep reading to see some of the newest incarnations of stripes in home decor…

Pottery Barn has a simple duvet cover and sham featuring soothing gray and white stripes.  Wide stripes like these are especially popular this year:

For the floor, West Elm has a striped rug available in several colors including this punchy tangerine.  The stripes are still wide, but also varied in width for added interest:

For your outdoor spaces, Restoration Hardware offers this pillow made from outdoor fabric.  Although it comes in several colors, I like this turquoise for a fresh look on any patio:

Stripes are timeless, classic and trendy – all at the same time.  Very few patterns have the staying power of stripes; don’t be afraid to bring this trend into your home!
